Summer Holiday Specials 2012!

Just wanted to tell you all about our exciting new themed session "Dinosaurs" This brand new session will be released in July 2012 via one of our Summer Holiday Specials...two whole hours of themed singing, refreshments, craft activities and a chance to meet and handle our entire range of exotic pets all for just £6.50 per child! (Accompanying adult(s) is free!

Tickled Skink in 2011

Hi Everyone!

Well, what a year it has been for Tickled Skink! In the summer we introduced a brand new session..."Amazon Jungle"...with a whole host of new cuddly props from the jungle, a magnetic fishing song, a throw and catch activity song with bean bag tadpoles and an energising dance with colourful floaty scarves to illustrate (in a fun way) the various ways seeds are distributed. The kids had a great time..and so did their parents! "Cakehouse cakes" joined us to provide amazing themed refreshments for all. Thankyou Cakehouse Cakes!

Leading up to Christmas, Lutterworth enjoyed a 10 week "Tickled Skink on Tour" experience, where children aged 2yrs to 7yrs got to experience 10 different world habitats through the joy of music, movement and many exciting props including cuddly toys, puppets, instruments, hobby horses, knitted fruit and veg, toy landscapes, rainbow sticks and much much more. Ontop of this, they got to learn about and handle a different live exotic animal each week, related to the habitat we had been singing about. The animals were very popular with the children (and their parents). Check out the photos sent to me by Natalie (one of our Lutterworth parents) on our "Tickled Skink On Tour" page. Fantastic! The course of sessions ended with our "Christmas Special" and each child received a christmas gift and a special "Tickled Skink Certificate Of Bravery" for their animal handling skills! The certificate included photos of all the animals they had handled during the 10 week course.

Many nurseries and schools booked Tickled Skink for their Christmas parties this year. The kids all had a fab time decorating the christmas tree during a song about snow, snowballs, icicles and presents falling on a pine tree. Lots of fun was had with stockings, bells and traditional christmas songs and then, of course, children got the chance to learn about and handle two of our very special exotic pets. I had a lovely time and met some amazing people! Here's hoping 2012 is just as good...if not even better!

Our new Rainforest CD!

It's nearly ready! The new fully interactive, Rainforest themed CD! We have been working on it for months and have packed it full of really catchy and fully orchestrated original songs about rainforest animals, weather, journeys, people and food. There is also a story from the dream-time and a couple of poems too! It's a complete rainforest experience for children aged 2yrs to 7yrs! Keep watching out for it on the website. It will be on sale from December 18th 2010 onwards.

party bags

Tickled Skink is thinking of introducing filled party bags as part of their online service, whether bookng a party with us or not. We are hoping to offer themed bags related to our existing party themes (Jungle, Garden, Countryside, Sea, African Safari). what do you think? What kind of thing would you love to find in your child's party bag?

New term begins

Well, here we are starting another term of Tickled Skinking. We have had some new children start at "The Reading Shop" weekly pre-school session in Oadby. I think they (and their parents) had a great time!. We sang about the caterpillar life-cycle, incy wincy spider, all the bugs in the garden and where to find them. We also learn the names of 4 different garden birds and heard their birdsong during our lovely "Up in a tree-top late in spring" song. Then, the highlight, everyone got to stroke and hold our lovely adult corn snake, Blossom. She is albino and all the children love her beautiful pink markings. Everyone went away very happy indeed. We are lucky that The Reading Shop is so child friendly and has such a wonderful collection of childrens' books to buy. Many of them relate to the themes we are singing about, so the children often get a story too!

Well...what a summer it has been!

Our three Holiday Specials went down really well with the locals and firmly added two brand new sessions (African Safari and Caves) to our list of available themes.

Many thanks to all who supported us with their patronage and to those that sent lovely photos of the events.

We have now tried and tested a range of craft activites and hope to, in the near future, be able to sell craft activites to those who want to create their own parties at a very competitive price. We also hope to have our first CD finished before christmas, ready to go on sale at 'The Christmas Spectacular'. With the CD and craft activites available, we will be able to offer a cut price way for people to create their own Rainforest themed party anywhere in the world!

Our Maclay Spectre stick insect, Juliet, has laid tons of eggs!! It's very exciting! We will need to find good homes for the babies, so please contact us if you are interested. They are so cheap to keep as they live off bramble!

It would be great to have some feedback about this site. It would help me to improve it/ build on what is good. So, what do you think?
